What’s in Season – March

When people ask me how to know what’s in season I always tell them the best way to know for sure is to go to your local farmers market and see what the farmers are selling. Eating seasonally for me means eating what’s in season in my region. Some of the Spring veggies are starting to make an appearance also this month which I love

Here’s a general over view of what’s in season Stateside this month:

Asparagus, Avocados, Broccoli, Beets, Bok Choy, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Chard, Collards, Fennel, Grapefruit, Kale, Kohlrabi, Mushrooms, Oranges, Parsnips, Rutabega, Spinach, Tangerines.

If you’re in Ireland this is what you have to play around with:

Beets, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celeriac, Kale, Leeks, Mushrooms, Parsnips, Rhubarb, Spinach, Swedes.

Now get cookin’ and don’t forget St. Patrick’s Day is coming up so I’ll be posting all my Irish recipes this month.
